We focus on spotlighting local favourites and new places worth checking out! That's not to say we don't also include chains, but we're picky about which ones we spotlight.

The “You’ve Picked a Damn Good Spot” title isn’t bought, bartered, or sponsored — it’s earned. I give it only to restaurants that go above and beyond what’s typical in Calgary’s food scene. That means spots delivering exceptional value, consistency, originality, and an experience worth talking about. No one can pay for this recognition, and there’s no subscription or hidden deal behind it. If a place has the title, it’s because I genuinely believe it stands out as one of the best — and you can trust it’s there for all the right reasons.

Calgary has a strong and growing restaurant scene. It's been exciting to watch the local and creative side of Calgary's restaurant scene take off and hold legs. It's now known for a diverse range of culinary experiences, from high-end dining to casual eateries and unique neighborhood spots, with a recent emphasis on expanding beyond the downtown core.
